Women's Captain Announcement's
We seem to be in full swing again now.
The 5 a side team played Muswell Hill 1st team on Saturday 17th. Sadly, we were missing both Jess and Saskia due to injury. I'd like to thank Ros and Lisa who kindly stepped in at short notice to make sure we fielded 5 players. Muswell Hill are a very strong team and with their handicap range from +2 to 10, it was always going to be a challenge. Despite some valiant efforts from both Lucy and Lisa, we were beaten 5/0. Onwards and upwards.
On Sunday 18th it was the George Low 4bbb and there was a good turn out. Runners Up were Lucy and Sharon with 37 points and winners were Cela and myself with 40 points. It was nice to see Hattie and Avril joining us in their first competition at BHP. The first of many I hope.
The Middlesex 5 club competition was once again won by Sarah Carver and the Veterans Cup was won by Linda, who pipped Billie to the winning post by 1 point.
Hazel has printed off some copies of the diary which can be found in the locker room. A full list of all club competitions can also be found on Ig. Please remember that you can play your competition on the Sunday before the Wednesday if you so wish. Jess is looking to play more competitions on a Sunday( when she has recovered) and would be happy to hear from anyone wishing to join her.
There is one omission in the printed diary, the mixed Ping 4bbb on May 30th.
Our first swindle with the Affiliate members is on May 2nd. It will be in 3`s and the best 2 stableford scores will count. There will be a maximum handicap of 36 .
Robbie Martin has asked me to mention that Middlesex will be holding an R&A rules seminar leading to a qualification. Please contact Robbie if you are interested.
I don't suppose any of us on the Women's WhatsApp group failed to notice how mad it went this week as people asked for partners for the foursomes and Spring Meeting. In future I think it would be best to try and secure a partner with a private message first and then if you still haven't found anyone , to then post on the group chat.
Good news- Nicola will be starting group lessons for women members every Monday at 2pm starting on May 2nd. The lessons cost £10 and payment should be made to Nicola. To book please contact Nicola directly by phone or via the Pro Shop. If the lesson is full and there`s enough interest, Nicola will look to arrange a second group.
Booking for the Spring Meeting will open next week (5th). Please book a corresponding time on IG to the pair you are playing with in the afternoon. The tees are the 1st and 11th, so one pair to book on the 1st and the other pair off the11th. The corresponding afternoon time for your 4 should also be booked. Please note that you must get round in time for your afternoon slot.
I will be reinstating my charity collection tin for anyone who wishes to take a book from our book exchange very soon. Any donations for books will be gratefully received.
Sadly, I have to say that Mia passed away on the 28th. She was a long standing member of the women's section, a demon with her putter and although we had not seen her for a while, I know that she was very well supported by Ros, Janet and Lizzie. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.
Finally, get well soon wishes to Janet, Saskia and Jess, plus a mention to Di who is awaiting knee surgery and is currently a social member.
Happy golfing ,
