Ladies' Captain's Announcements
Georgie Russell had a very good turnout for her afternoon tea party in aid of Marie Curie on Friday. She raised well over £700; from the tea and cakes plus raffle and donations via the internet and on the day. Excellent, I'm sure the charity will appreciate her efforts, well done.
Last week we had the Captain's day for the Ladies which was a shotgun start in order to have a prompt prize-giving when all players are in and all the prize-winners at the presentation. However we had several groups who were so slow that they were over an hour finishing after everyone else; resulting in at least one of the winners leaving before the presentation. This was very disappointing after all the preparations; can we please be more aware of the pace of play especially in a stableford competition? You must make efforts to keep up with the group in front rather than keeping just in front of the group behind! Also when playing a stableford competition you must pick up when you are out of shots, this is not the time to practice putting!
Captain's night went very well on Saturday night with everyone throwing themselves into the roulette and blackjack. While most of us did our best to make the chips last most of the evening and then losing the lot near the end, David and Tracy Morris were the only ones to cash in their chips for the prize. David just beat Tracy to the prize and took home the magnum of red wine; no doubt he'll share!
May I remind you that the Captain has opened up the Captain's Guest Day, on Sunday July 22nd, to Ladies. You can invite a male or female guest(s) and play is in fours, so you are able to either invite three guests or one guest and team up with another pairing.
Sorry about the mess up with today's competition. We have resolved this by converting the medal scores to stableford, not ideal but the best we could do and actually the results seem to come out the same! This gives us the following results: for the Grandmother's Cup we had three competitors on 36 points, so had to go to countback on the back 9 giving 3rd place to Rita Kapur(15 on the back 9), 2nd to Chris Robertson(17 on the back 9) and our winner with 22 on the back 9 was Pat Turner, Well Done. The senior Grandmothers Salver was far easier to calculate and Chris Robertson won this with 24points over holes 1-13, Well Done.
Can I please remind you that we have the Birdie(open to all ladies) and the PeAR trees(open to ladies with handicaps of 29 and over. There is a folder in the locker room in which to record your birdie & par achievements, please remember to do this as we can recover birdies achieved in weekly competitions but not in matches, which also count, nor can we follow pars except by your recording them in this folder.
We have the ladies invitation to Gents this Sunday. A shotgun start at 1:30pm, registration between 12 noon and 1pm.
The ladies overnighter, September 9th & 10th. If you are on the list but no longer able to come or visa versa please see Cela so that she can finalise numbers. Also she is coming round to collect the final payment which is now due.
Lady Captain's Charity Day is coming up on August 1st, which isn't that far away actually! Billie has kindly agreed to organise the day for us and is asking that all those who intend to compete on the day bring in a prize, preferably something that you would like to receive and certainly within date if edible! Can you please bring in your contribution and leave it in the locker room labelled 'Lady Captain's Charity Day' by Wednesday July 25th at the latest, also any spare wrapping paper so that Billie can wrap the gifts. From next week we will also be selling 'balls' for Danny to hit and the closest to win a prize, so please bring change with you!
Another upcoming competition that needs a bit of planning is the Ladies Invitation Day. Remember this is on Thursday August 16th, so get going and be sure to invite your guests. This is to be a fourball team event played as an alliance. You can either invite three guests or team up with another BHP lady with one guest each, the choice is yours.
I would be very happy if more of you would sign up for the Lady Captain/Pro challenge. The sheet is now in the pro shop.
Don't forget the roll-ups are now on Mondays and Fridays at 2pm but please sign up on the BRS if you intend to come along. Not to arrange the group that you are to play with but to indicate to others your intention to come along, the draw will still be done by throwing the balls up on the day.
Do remember that Pauline is collecting 1&2 litre milk bottle tops in aid of the London Air Ambulance. If you can please collect these, give them a quick rinse and bring them to the club we will provide a collection container in the locker room.
