I start this week with tales of derring do.
On Monday, Lucy Bidmead & Sharon Saunders played at Muswell Hill in the Middlesex Foursomes, they fought back from 4 down to defeat Highgate on the 17th hole. Also on Monday, Tracey Ripsher & Umar Annaradnam played Northwood at Finchley. They found themselves 4 up at one stage and eventually ended up winning on the 20th hole. As Umar put it 'it was quite a game'! Fantastic effort by both teams, bring on the next round!
Someone else who is becoming a serial winner is Dawn Rose, she won last week and this week she lifted the Kay Steel Trophy, with a nett 71, closely followed by Umar & Sharon (they get in everywhere) with nett 72. Well done.
Last Sunday the first mixed event since reopening, The Brasted Trophy, was played and the winners of that were Guy & Sharon Saunders (AGAIN!) with 34 points, John Guiney & Jess Brown were 2nd on count back with 31 points. Thanks to Mark Stevens & Janet Connor for organising that one.
Last Tuesday morning, along with several of my committee members, I came up to meet some of the new ladies on Nicolas coaching groups for coffee and a chat. Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time as I'd managed to secure an appointment with my hairdresser. They all seemed to be enjoying their golf lessons, they say Nicola makes it such fun and is very patient with them. She's doing a great job and we very much look forward to them joining us in the not too distant future.
This Sunday afternoon is the Ladies Invite to Gents, a Greensomes competition. We have 13 fourballs playing, a very good turnout. Will anybody be able to deny Sharon, this time playing with our President John Bottoms, from winning her 3rd match in little over a week? I'll tell you next time!
This Wednesday is the Grandmothers & Senior Grandmothers Cup (75+), this is one competition Sharon won't be winning yet............
