Ladies' Captain's Announcements
Well my year as the sorcerers apprentice has finished it seems to have gone in a flash!
Last Friday, was my first day as Captain and we had two teams entered in the Lorna Peters competition at Highgate, I'm delighted to say that Sue Coates, Lucy Bidmead and Sharon Saunders emerged the winners and were 5 points clear of their nearest rivals, a great result!
This Sunday is the Lambert Trophy and I will be partnering Iain Lanario, who doesn't know what he's let himself in for, lucky Graham has Tracey Ripsher! Sunday 20th the Club Championships will be rerun, good luck to all those who've entered.
My Charity this year will be The Silver Line, which was founded by Esther Rantzen and are the only Charity which provides support to elderly people 24/7, 365 days a year. They can advise on services that are available or just be a human voice for people who are lonely, scared or maybe ill.
My drive-in took place on Wednesday 9th, the competition was won by Sue Coates (a serial winner), Janet Connor and my bridge partner, Dawn Rose. Then came my drive in, certainly not my best but it was measurable and was correctly predicted by Shirley Lockett.
I have received many 'good luck' cards, gifts and flowers, thank you to everyone! Big thanks also to Simon and Roy for the lovely lunch which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Debbie, Sonia and the girls behind the bar were, as ever, marvelous. Danny, Toby & Nicola in the Pro shop for all their help too (especially for use of buggy). Stewart I saw filming my drive (must retrieve footage of that)!
It was lovely to have my family there too, my daughters, sister, brother-in-law, niece, great nephew, even my Dad was persuaded to leave the house! Assorted friends and last but by no means least, Graham, as ever, he never complains (well not much) whatever he's asked to do. Me and the Captain are now abandoning our duties and I shall be reporting from my sun bed for the foreseeable.
