Was it really Wednesday today? No one told the weather obviously because we had a beautiful day, excellent conditions, nice temperature and 28 ladies out playing in the competition. Congratulations to Janet Connor and Lia Martin who won on countback with 28 points.
We ran our charity quiz last Thursday and took just over £200 making £166 for Alzheimer's UK after costs. Thank you to all those who helped by taking part and to Lesley and Hazel for helping to run the afternoon.
Charity day on Monday was a huge success with 25 teams taking part. The final figure has not yet been calculated but I'm sure the captain will have that by the end of the week when he does his blog. Our thanks go to all who helped prepare and on the day, Pam and Tony Brookman did a fantastic job in the hut as did Tracy Morris in selling the silent auction and tote plus she helped with the raffle draw among other bits; also thanks go to Danny for his challenge on the 13th, Stewart and Jenny for manning the reception desk, taking photos dealing with the cards at the end and all the preparatory work. The club was buzzing on the day and it nice to see it full of happy faces to late in the evening.
We had a triangular match with a difference at Brickendon on Thursday with the groups being competing teams of three, one from each club. Conditions and weather were good and Cela was our representative in the winning team, well done.
Remember that tomorrow, Thursday, there will be a mixed (as in men and women can enter but it is an individual competition and you can play in groups of ladies if you wish) stableford competition, this is running all day each Thursday throughout the summer. There will also be an eclectic competition running alongside this which will run until Sept 13th. However there will be two Thursdays that this will be replaced with the 3 club, plus putter, challenge on May 24th and the cross country competition on a date yet to be decided.
Don't forget to sign up in the locker room for the evening meal after the Centenary Salver on Wednesday 23th, booking for the competition will be done via the BRS as usual from next Monday.
We have the George Low 4BBB competition on Sunday and the BRS is now open for booking.
Next week we have the Victory cup which is a 36 hole competition, so don't forget you also need to book an afternoon time for your second round. For those of you not up to 36 holes we will have alternative 18 and 9 hole competitions.
There are still places available for the Maytime greensomes which is Sunday week, May 20th.
I would be very happy if more of you would sign up for the Lady Captain/Pro challenge. The sheet is now in the pro shop.
The roll-ups are now on Mondays and Fridays at 2pm but please sign up on the BRS if you intend to come along. Not to arrange the group that you are to play with but to indicate to others your intention to come along, the draw will still be done by throwing the balls up on the day.
Do remember that Pauline is collecting 1&2 litre milk bottle tops in aid of the London Air Ambulance. If you can please collect these, give them a quick rinse and bring them to the club we will provide a collection container in the locker room.
