Well not much again this week. Only 24 hours to go, in fact by the time this is published I'll be finished; funny feeling that, not sure how I feel about it, although I will be pleased to get more control over my life again!
The Lambert Trophy went well on Sunday and for once Ray Ripsher managed to hit his drives onto the correct fairways and stayed relatively straight. Ray and Tracey ran away with the Trophy by 4 a point advantage winning with 35 points. Well done, you were a pleasure to play with and have been all year; what will we do next year, David and I are open to offers?
We had reasonable weather for my last function, The Autumn Meeting, and actually got all 27 holes played, unbelievable I know but it really was! Not completely dry obviously, but it wasn't too bad; it was the wind that flummoxed most people but not Louise Fickling who came in with a fantastic nett 62, winning the scratch prize with a gross 86 – Well done. The afternoon was won by Lesley Avent, Lucy Bidmead, Janet Connor and, yes you've guessed it, Louise Fickling with 42 points. Ros pipped me on count back, with a nett 73, to take the first prize in the Silver division, Janet Connor won the Bronze division with a nett 68 and the copper division was won by Rita with a nett 69. Only 16 of us stayed for the meal and prize-giving which was slightly disappointing however we had a lovely meal and an enjoyable time with a select company, so not all bad! To top the day I won the Lisney Trophy with an amalgamated nett score of 157, so that's two years in a row! There were quite a few other prize-winners but far too many to list here, so well done to you all and the list will be put up in the locker room for your perusal.
The committee have decided to bring in the winter competitions again from November, with the exception of the End of season alliance on November 28th, The Winter greensomes on December 12th and the Texas Scramble on December 19th all of which are draws except the winter greensomes. Hence you don't need to worry about playing partners, other than the winter greensomes, from the end of October until the beginning of next season; Chris will clarify the format of each competition in October.
Good luck to the 5-a-side team on Saturday. We tee off at 1pm at Finchley and will appreciate any support from those of you that can manage to get over and watch.
Do remember that Pauline is collecting 1&2 litre milk bottle tops in aid of the London Air Ambulance. If you can please collect these, give them a quick rinse and bring them to the club we will provide a collection container in the locker room.
