Ladies' Captain's Announcements
The New Members trophy was held on Sunday and was won for the first time by a lady, Sharon Saunders, with 39 points. Congratulations Sharon.
The Grace Lawrence (business ladies) Cup had also been scheduled for Sunday but because of the weather no one took part, so we will try to reschedule for later this year.
Monday saw the bank holiday fun golf, Texas scramble which was won by Neal Avent, Tim Corrick, Danny Barker & Chris Davison and the Wilson putting vase, which was won by Jon Copley, beating Lisa Martin in the 36 hole final. Well done to all it was a good day and the BBQ was very good and enjoyed by all those who stayed.
A big thank you to our President, Nigel Hunnisett, for Wednesday. He provided some very welcome snacks in the hut and made us all tea/coffee to keep us going after the VERY wet start to our games. He also provided some lovely prizes which I am sure will be much appreciated by the winners; 1st Helen Constantinou with 33 points, 2nd Sue Coates with 30 points, 3rd Louise Fickling with 29 points and Pauline Platt nearest the pin on the 13th. Well done and I'm sure we will all be pleased to know that today's competition is reduction only, no surprise there in those conditions!
Don't forget to put your name down for the Autumn Meeting, September 19th; the sign-up sheets are in the locker room. Please sign up for the food as well as on the timesheet. Those ladies who are past playing members are also invited to the meal and prize-giving after the golf, so please sign –up if you'd like to join us.
Mark and Janet are organising a mixed friendly V Enfield at Enfield on Sunday Sept 2nd. There seem to be a lot of men who now wish to play in the mixed, see Ray's list! So get out there and ask them to play or get Janet & Mark to do the asking if you feel a little shy, these are always good days!
I would like to send our condolences to Carol Agass who lost her brother earlier this week.
Guy Saunders, Billie Newland, Ray Ripsher and Stewart are setting up a committee to raise funds and build a ladies toilet on the course in time for our 125year celebrations in 2020. They feel that this would be helped by another lady member joining this committee, so if you would like to join them please contact Billie or Stewart?
I am disappointed at the uptake for the Lady Captain/Pro challenge and would be very happy if more of you would sign up, although dates are quickly becoming scarce since my time as captain is quickly coming to a close. The sheet is now in the pro shop and any mutually agreeable date is possible, not just Sunday's!
Do remember that Pauline is collecting 1&2 litre milk bottle tops in aid of the London Air Ambulance. If you can please collect these, give them a quick rinse and bring them to the club we will provide a collection container in the locker room.
