I'm glad to report that the social side of the club is functioning well with both Sunday lunches and fish and chip nights fully booked well in advance. We now serve fish and chips all day Friday and we have various theme nights during the week. Also the clubhouse is being fully utilised lunch times and early evenings which is nice to see and leads to an enjoyable atmosphere.
Last Thursday the Kruger Sovereign was played for and as usual was well supported. This was won by the man in form, namely Ray Ripsher with 41 points on count back from Dave Morris. Ray's handicap was cut by just one shot, it should have been more! Last week saw the Senior Quaich competition for eligible members over 50 years old and this was won in fine style by Michael Stainton with a gross 76 on count back from Robert Collett. Also last week was the September Medal played on both Saturday and Sunday in 2 Divisions. Division 1 was won by Steven Ballinger with a nett 67 and Division 2 by Jack Bidmead with a nett 60, really well done chaps!
The next two Saturdays will be the Luther Smith, which is an annual competition played against Enfield in a home and away format with both scores added together to decide the winner. This Saturday we are away to Enfield and that is fully booked but next Saturday, 3rd October, we are at home and it's not too late to enter. Please support your club and put your name down via the IG App. Luckily we've had a couple of days of rain which has freshened the course up. Don't forget the new Captains drive in competition, which is a Texas Scramble and the drive in on Sunday 4th October.Cheers Graham
