Another enjoyable week at BHP with plenty of golf being played at a very good level.
Over the weekend we had two competitions, a medal off yellow tees for the over 60's, The Shillingford Bowl, which was won by David R Morris with a creditable 67 nett and the other the August stableford, which could be played on either Saturday or Sunday, with the best stableford score on either day. This was divided into 2 divisions. Division 1 was won by John Copley with 40 points and Division 2 by Mark Eastwood with 42 points, well done boys!
On bank holiday Monday we held the Martin Dench Texas Scramble Trophy. This was the inaugural competition held in memory of Martin Dench, who was an ex Captain and friend to many at BHP, who sadly died in 2014. 21 teams of 4 played in nice weather followed by a fine BBQ supplied by Roy. The winners were Ken Cave, James Craggs, Mark Kemode and Greg Mackett with a nett score of 53.8, which included 10 birdie, closely followed by Tim Corrick, Chris Davison, Neil Hurst and Nick Sharp with 55.3. Sue Dench was on hand to present the trophy. I won't say who was third!
I must say it's great to have Danny back in the Pro Shop, let's hope it all runs smoothly in the future.
Finally don't forget it's Presidents Day on Saturday and the 4 Ball Draw on Sunday which will be the last one of my Captains year.
Keep golfing and stay safe!
