The reduced Festival Week had been in full swing. On Friday we held the Middlesex Mixed Open competition where teams of Ladies & Gentleman competed for some prestigious prizes. Members from local clubs were invited to play and some very low handicap golfers attended. The event was won by Kumar Starkie-Gupta & Priya Pankhania from Stanmore Golf Club on 44 points on count back from Michael Okon & Altynay Daveltova from Mill Hill.
Saturday was the highlight of Festival Week namely Captains Day. The weather was fine if a little breezy and all the tee times were utilised. 120 members attended the event and I kept them fed and watered all day. The winner of the Captain's prize was Alec Knight with a commendable 42 points, followed by Dave Griffiths with 40 points. The Scratch Prize was won by Alexander Watson and the Nearest The Pins were Se Banim, Ray Hurding & Jack Shirley. The Vets winner was David Snell on 40 points. In the evening Roy put in a splendid BBQ which was enjoyed by everyone in the clubhouse and a pleasant evening was had by all.
On Sunday we had the Gentleman's Invite to Ladies organised by Iain Lanario our vice captain. Thirty pairs took part and as usual it was won by Ray Ripsher & Billie Newland with 45 points on count back from John Bottoms & Sharon Saunders.
Another regular event in the BHP calendar is the Past Captain's Trophy which was won by Mark Stevens with 41 points. The golf was followed by a glorious 3 course meal with copious amounts of wine. Luckily I was guest of honour.
Next Monday is bank holiday and we have the Martin Dench Texas Scramble & Wilson Putting Vase followed by a BBQ. Please come along and support the club and enjoy the fun!
