The very warm weather is still with us and the course is drastically drying out. Luckily the irrigation on the tees and grass is keeping them in pristine condition. If climate change persists in giving us extra weeks of hot weather it may be worth looking into fairway sprinklers.
Saturday we had a couple of medal competitions, The Coronation Cup which was 36 holes played in one day and was won by John Stolliday with a magnificent 136 nett playing off 12 handicap. The other competition which was the Extra Stableford won by Giovanni Guglielmoni in Division 1 with 37 points and Division 2 by Gary Droy with 44 points. Well done guys especially in that heat.
The hut is coming along, it's now a lovely Safe Green colour and it looks like some of the plumbing has been completed, we're still waiting for another door.
After some grumbling about our ball retrievers on the green we've decided to revert to the original plastic inserts. If these are successful we will persevere with them for the foreseeable future.
Festival week is fast approaching starting on Wednesday with Captains Day for Ladies, followed on Thursday with the fully booked Charity Day AM-AM. On Friday we have the Middlesex Mixed Open which has attracted interest from many of the local clubs and on 22nd August is my Captains Day with a full days golf, refreshments and a B.B.Q. If you're lucky I may buy you a drink after your round.
