It's been a lovely sunny week, ideal for golf but I hate to say it we could do with some rain!
The transition from 2 balls to 4 balls has been achieved relatively smoothly -probably aided by our volunteer Marshall's, thank you to all those who have volunteered and been on duty this week. We could do with more volunteers helping out, it's in 2 hour shifts and is very rewarding.
Our competitions secretary, John Copley, has advised me that we are going to proceed with some of the summer competitions and has sent out an email to that effect. For all the new members and existing members whose handicaps have lapsed, 3 supplementary score cards will have to be submitted to Robbie Martin, Handicap Secretary, to obtain a competition handicap. You must also advise him of your intention to do a supplementary card before going out to play. All competitions will be entered via the Intelligent Golf app.
For pairs playing in mixed events here are some dates for your diary.
July 5th Brasted Trophy
Sep 6th Lambert Trophy
Oct 11th Maytime Greensomes
These are usually very well supported and would normally finish with a meal but this will depend on the club house being open.
More news about the 125yr anniversary and because of Covid 19 we have had to reschedule the festival week and have decided on the following
Wed 19th Aug - Captains Day for Ladies
Thurs 20th Aug - Charity Am-Am
Fri 21st Aug - Mixed Open Comp
Sat 22nd Aug - Captains Day
Just a note to finish on, we are still hoping to play the Luther Smith competition against Enfield at a date to be arranged and also the Ladies and Gents Invitation matches.
Stay safe and enjoy your golf.
