Captain's Announcements

I must start my blog this week by thanking Iain Lanario for holding the fort for the last three weeks. He has done an excellent job and is truly a magnificent blogger.

We're still struggling to have a rain free week of golf although we have had a few odd days. Unfortunately there's not much we can do about it - only pray. Winter league 18 was played on Saturday in extreme conditions, so much so that nobody beat their handicap in either division. But congratulations to Graham Dickens, of a handicap of twelve, who won division 1 with 36 points and Chris Watson, off 28, who won division 2 with 35 points. One bone of contention was mentioned to me about slowness of play around the coffee hut on the 13th. It seems that some members are dawdling over their hot drinks. Please be aware that this isn't a compulsory stop so if you do stop make it as short as possible.

The management committee had asked me to put out a request for a volunteer to act as a club welfare officer, to assist in a safeguarding role. The position won't be too onerous and will only require a meeting if any welfare issue is raised.

On a lighter note we have a Mexican evening on the 27th February with a Mariachi band playing many popular tunes that you can sing along to and enjoy fine Mexican food. Book early to avoid disappointment. I shall be there to see who turns up.

Upcoming events:

Valentine's Night- Friday 14th February

Fish Night- Thursday 20th February
