Well another winter weekend has passed us by & the opportunity of the next round of the Winter League has eluded us once more. So as we look at the current Winter League standings, David Knott is sitting in pole position, 5 points clear of Current John Shaw champion, Mike Stainton, who is looking to pick up his 2nd Major trophy in 4 months.
But with 8 weeks still to play & 6 good scores required, the competition is still wide open.
So with no recent golf to report and having watched many Golf You tube videos of"what's in the bag", I thought I'd have a small go. Mike Stainton plays a Titleist 910 Driver which came out in 2012 which has a "handle" made of rock hard shinny rubber from 1982, Once you have felt this, to call it a grip I'm sure would invoke trading standards. And yet he still manages to wield said weapon with great success.
When assessing the bag of Past Captain Ray Ripsher, according to those who know him well, his best bit of equipment is a Sat Nav, although this doesn't always work. And then there's my bag. All the clubs I have are wonderful, it's the organic piece of rubbish on the end that fails to work. Oh well there's always next week. Hopefully, maybe !!
And now a special mention to our Treasurer Martyn Lainchbury, who along with his family, took part in a charity Walking marathon last Sunday the 19th, in support of The Alzheimer's Society. If anyone wishes to make a donation to this very worthy cause, it can be done via Just Giving or go to the club website & follow the links.
Here's hoping the course starts to dry and we can all get on with some winter Golf.
