Sunday the 5th January saw the first Fourball draw of the year with 24 participants in which Danny and I had a Captain and pro challenge against David Boothroyd & Jack Bidmead. I hadn't played for three weeks so was a bit rusty but with a little help from the Pro we managed to draw on the 18th with a birdie from Danny. The course is still a little wet with casual water everywhere and a trolley and buggy ban which makes it difficult for the older members. It must improve soon and it's only dry in the Clubhouse for drinks and snacks.
Luckily we have a few events coming up. Firstly, a fantastic Mauritian dinner, organised by Roy the chef. This is on Friday 17th January, consisting of a meal with aromatic Mauritian spices, a Mauritian Sega dancer and Mauritian D.J.'s who are Roy's cousins.
Next on the list is Valentine's Day the 14th of February. This is a Friday party night but this time with the added bonus of Ted Rees's trio namely the T. Jays playing a 2 hour set. I thought a better name for his combo would be Right Said Ted. Please book a table, it promises to be a good night.
If you don't fancy something so energetic you might like to try a Reiki session which is being organised by our member Kevin Sollitt. He will be running 2 FREE informative sessions: Monday 13th at 10 am and Tuesday 14th at 4 pm.
Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It's a simple, natural and safe method and it is common for people to experience pain relief and also to feel less stressed after a Reiki session.
At last the Diaries have been printed and are available in the Pro Shop free of charge, pick yours up when next at the club.
Due to the trolley ban only 9 intrepid ladies ladies played this Wednesday, although quite a few more arrived for lunch and Bridge, I'm hopeful that next week we will have lots more playing.
There is a copy of the latest Middlesex news letter in the locker room, it's well worth signing up for via their website, with lots of news and useful information.
If anyone hears of any 'Opens' coming up please let me have the details, or flyer/poster if you have one, to give more of our ladies the opportunity to enter.
Billie Newland is looking for some ladies to help with the production of our new rules. I'm not quite sure what this will involve but anyone interested let me know and I'll pass your names onto Billie.
Finally if there are any ladies who aren't part of our WhatsApp group and would like to be, once again, let me know, send me your mobile number and name and I'll get you added to it.
That's all for this week!
