Captain's Announcements

Well it was week 2 of the winter league & the weather was much kinder to us this time around. Again, there were a number of very good scores. Some of the score cards made interesting reading, in particular, Sean Nugent scoring a very impressive 25 points on the last 8 holes to get a total of 41 points along side Paul Robertson with the same score. Both being beaten into 2nd & 3rd places respectively in division 2 by Richard Paterson with 42 points which included birdies on holes 10 & 17. Very well done to all of you. Mark Watts got 39 points in division 1 for 2nd place. But if you want to be really impressed, take the time to look at at the score card of John Guiney. 44 points playing off of a handicap of 5, John managed to shoot a gross score of 67 !!! Which included 12 pars, 5 birdies & 1 double bogey, now that's golf the vast majority of us can only dream about. Very well done John.
On Sunday morning I played in the Clarke's swindle. For any members that don't know, Clarke's swindle takes place every Sunday morning except the first Sunday of the month when it is the Pro 4 ball draw. It is a very relaxed format with a friendly bunch of guys and has been running for over 15 years due to the time & effort of Steve Clarke. Any members are welcome to turn up and play. So if you fancy a game on a Sunday morning, just turn up and join the guys. Balls go in the hat about 07:50 with first tee time around 8.04
The winter knockout competitions have now started , and one of the much favoured pairs for the Edgar Collar Trophy of Oz Hassan & Ethan Cameron are already out, beaten on the 19th hole by new members John & Tom Killey. It's the first competition the Killey's have entered together since joining the club a few months ago & it looks like they will be real tough pair to beat. Well done Gents & welcome to the world of Bush Hill Park competition golf.
Well that's all from me this week, I've managed 2 blogs without mentioning Past Captain Ray Ripsher. Oh well, the course has felt a little safer without you on it Ray, although a little less exciting.
Welcome back Ray for Winter League week 3 !
