I am honoured and absolutely delighted to be addressing you as Club Captain of Bush Hill Park Golf Club for 2018/19. This feels a bit like an Oscar acceptance speech, well not exactly but there are so many thank yous that I am not quite sure where to begin. I think I should just stick to thanking my proposers and all of you who have accepted my appointment with good grace, thank you. There are hundreds of others due but I am going to save those for another time, other than of course my fabulous wife Tracey, who allowed me to embark on this adventure.
There is no question that the club faces stiff challenges but we have the resources and members to tackle this and I am totally confident that we are on an upward path which will bring the required and desired results.
The Captain's Committee will be working hard to bring you the golfing and social events that you want and we will be looking for feedback from you all please, whether this is positive or negative. Your involvement and enjoyment are paramount but it does require as many of us as possible to enter into the greater spirit of things, whenever we can.
The key events brochure was distributed at the AGM and freshly printed copies are now available to collect from the clubhouse. Please have of read of these and pick the events which interest you and put them in your diaries. Our Ladies Captain Christine will be back from holiday soon and will be having her Drive In next Wednesday, I shall be there and everyone else who can make it is welcome, I will at the bar at lunch time to get the beers in.
Now some golf results to finish with. Congratulations go to Nick Balnave and Martyn Lainchbury who won the Captains Drive In, David Boothroyd who claimed the Autumn Kruger Sovereign and Dave Dickinson who cruised to a cool 42 points to win the Extra Stableford last Saturday. The Rabbits were victorious over Brookmans Park, with a clear 4 – 2 victory.
That's enough for now other than to let know that Tracey and I will be in Copenhagen over the weekend, at last the Christening of our first grandchild is actually happening which means that I will miss the Pro Challenge this Sunday. My Vice Captain, the indominable Graham Evans will step into the breach so please do your best to join him.
