Captain's Announcements

What a difference a week makes. I can see that the new irrigation system is going to come into its own sooner than we thought.

On Wednesday a deputation of Bush Hill Park warriors went down to Frinton Golf Club, an 1895 course, to do battle with the locals who had thrown down the golfing gauntlet. It is my sad duty now to tell you that it was a rout and Bush Hill went down 5½ - 2½. The few that came away with their heads held high were Jim Craggs and Chris Littler, who won 4 and 3, and Rob Wiles and Dave Krouse, who won by the close margin of 2 up. Graham Evans and Norman Carey came away with a half. The others had to take consolation in the local brew. Thanks to Se Banim for organising a great day.

Some more great scores at the weekend. A nett 65 by Kevin Lewis and a 66 by Robert Grover. Well done both of you.

All the qualifiers for the Rafferty knock-out rounds are now known. Those that qualified last Saturday were as follows:

Thursday Stablefords

From the 3rd May we will organise a stableford every Thursday, running throughout the day. All will be welcome, men, ladies and juniors. Men and junior boys will play off the white tees and ladies and junior girls off the red tees. The ladies will receive 1 additional shot to even out the different standard scratch scores.

These competitions will be qualifying and there will be an optional £2 sweep for which there will be a winner and a runner up, collecting money in the ratio 60:40. We also intend to run an eclectic competition, which will incur a one off payment of £5 and will run until the 13th September. Prize money will be allocated to the first three places in the ratio 50:30:20. There will be two weeks when neither the stableford nor the eclectic will run and that is when we hold the 3-club competition and the cross country.

3-Club Competition

This has been a successful event over the last two years. Martyn Lainchbury will run the competition on the 24th May. If you speak nicely to him he might let you have a putter as well as the 3 clubs.

Middlesex Sixes

The Middlesex Sixes is a County knock-out competition. The next round is at home against North Middlesex on Sunday 13th May. We need one more player with a playing handicap of 6–10 to complete the team. If you fit the bill and would be able to play please contact Robbie Martin or get Danny to do it. Your club needs you.

Charity Day

I'm both pleased and relieved to see that interest in my charity day has picked up now that the weather has improved, but we could still do with more teams. I have one or two individuals who are looking for teams so let me know if you are one or two short.

Friday Night Live

Don't forget next Friday 27th April we have organised live music in the main bar provided by a group called 'The Protocols'. This, combined with a healthy serving of one of Alasdair's world famous curries. What could be more enjoyable?

Please refer to Danny's blog to find out news of Rabbits, Rangers or Foxes matches.

Stableford next week for those of us who struggled with the medals. Don't forget the sun block.

Speak next week.
