On Thursday 22nd April it was the Spring Kruger Sovereign stableford competition.
The weather was fine & the course was in immaculate condition.
69 competitors entered the competition throughout the day with only 6 managing to equal or better their handicap.
1st place Jack Allen 41 points.
2nd place Nigel Bidmead 40 points.
3rd place Len Palmer 38 points.
Very well played gents, especially Jack shooting a gross 72!
On Saturday 24th April it was the Bushguarders National Trophy .
Of the 98 competitors, 20 managed to equal or better there handicap.
This makes it look like the course was playing a little easier than the Thursday. But there were still another 78 of us who couldn't quite get there.
If it was easier, I wish someone would have told me!
But following in the footsteps of the Spanish greats, Seve Ballesteros, Jose Maria Olazabal, John Rahm was Bush Hill Parks very own:
Eusebio Ramirez Huerga 41 points. 1st place.
The next 5 places had to be separated by countback each on 39 points & are all worthy of a mention.
2nd place Raymond Kelly.
3rd place Paul Scully.
4th place John Mather.
5th place Graham Corr.
6th place Richard Paterson.
Well done to all .
On Sunday 25th April it was the Holm Oak Trophy.
This was a Fourball better ball pairs competition.
There were 22 pairs entered throughout the day.
At one point it looked like 1 pair had won with an amazing 53 points, but alas it was just a glitch in the matrix and once sorted, turned into a very credible 42 points.
But our winners had a magnificent 46 points .
1st place Rob Collett & Paul Collett 46 points.
2nd Place David Boothroyd & Tony Williamson 44 points.
3rd Place Simon Boyes & James Severn 42 points.
This was the 1 competition I thought I'd done quite well in, but on reflection, what I had done well, was pick a good partner who played some excellent golf. Thanks James.
This coming weekend it is the May Medal. This can be played either Saturday or Sunday.
On Sunday it is also the Men's Fourball Draw.
This is an excellent way to meet new & existing members. If you are new to the club and are looking for an event to get to know other members, this is one I would certainly recommend.
It is played in pairs. As a better ball competition.
