Bush Nationals Annual Dinner

On Friday 9th October the Bush Nationals celebrated their Annual Dinner.

The Bush Nationals is a society of members of Bush Hill Park Golf Club who completed a term of National Service. They were formed in 1985 as a society for young ex-servicemen who had stepped forward when their country called in the dangerous post-War period that became know as 'The Cold War'.

They were joined by Wing Commander M G Dudgeon OBE DL, who presented a talk entitled "Much to be modest about - Reflections of 38 years in the RAF".

Mike Dudgeon served in the Royal Air Force from 1963 to 2000, working as a helicopter pilot in the Far East, Europe, America and the Falklands. Latterly he served on the staff of NATO's Rapid Reaction Force HQ in Germany, and then in the Army's Directorate of Land Warfare in Wiltshire, England, advising on the integration of air and land operations. After leaving the RAF he became involved with the Mercers' Company. He was Master in 2002/3 and remains on its Court. He is or has been trustee to charities such as Action for Blind People and Classical Road Show (creating choral music for children), is the Honorary President of 344 (Fulham) Squadron Air Cadets, is a governor of a school in Shropshire, and is a City of London Guide. He is a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London, and was its Vice Lord-Lieutenant from January 2011 until May 2018. This involves him liaising with reserve forces and youth groups, presenting Queen's Awards, and occasionally facilitating Royal visits.

The lunch was enjoyed by all and was a fitting start to Remembrance weekend.
